Map of San Pedro Area

First of all, I don’t know if this is Ms. Daugherty’s doing or not but in the book, isn’t it referred to as ‘San Piedro’ rather than ‘San Pedro’? Maybe I read it wrong in the book or maybe it doesn’t matter but I thought that was interesting. Also, the map is a little confusing. Are the San Pedro islands beside the United States? By the looks of it, it looks like it is off of Washington and headed up towards the Canada way. I also think it is weird that there is such a sharp and strong border going through the islands. It says United States and then  part of the island is grouped with that and the other half is outside. What does that outside half belong to? Is it just an island? Maybe the book explained it and I missed it.
